Stretch Goal:
Unlock at $60K for More Color Options

Since we launched Nums™ on Kickstarter, we have been continuously working on our product development. We have achieved so many breakthroughs so far, including some significant improvement for our Windows products. We might be able to accept pre-order for Nums™ for Surface in the next couple of months! Very exciting!  

In addition to software improvement, we are also working on perfecting the hardware like we promised on our page. We are proud to share that after numerous tests with our manufacturers, we are ready to produce Nums™ with different colors of the symbols. These colors will also be produced with metallic ink, so that you would use Nums™ with ease wherever you are. 

Our inventor Huachao and the product team are finalizing the color options. You might be able to match the color of your MacBook with rose gold or space grey (wink wink). We will reveal the color options in the next couple of days. This reward will be unlocked at $60K. We are very close now :)

Reward Surveys

We promised you all, especially our early bird backers, that as soon as we reach our goal, we will start collecting information and confirming with you regarding your MacBook models and shipping addresses. We are on it! Team Nums has created the reward surveys for all tiers of rewards. We are testing the surveys to make sure they are clear and cover all the information (especially the most asked model questions) we need to ship the products as soon as the campaign ends. 

We will try to send these surveys out first to our early bird backers by the end of this week, a week before the end of the campaign.   

This has been an incredible journey with you all. None of these will happen without your support. We are immensely grateful.

Hey everyone, 

Wow, we are only 15% away from our goal! Team Nums, you are amazing!! We are more motivated than ever to perfect every detail to build the future of laptop trackpads. Let's do this together. 

Wish List

Laptop trackpads have been used mainly for navigation, moving the cursor from one place to another to open or close programs. 

However, let's re-imagine it.

Trackpads are more than navigation. In our blue-print, a laptop trackpad is the entrance connecting us with anything stored in our local laptop or online. For example, we developed "Swift Launch", so that you don't have to move your fingers from one place to another to open up "Netflix"; all you need to do, is just a swipe. Your trackpad then becomes the entrance to a website, not just the surface you use to move your cursor to where the browser is and then type in "netflix.com".

Nums™ was invented with the goal to transform trackpads and build the future of trackpads. There are so much more we could develop to revolutionize this small surface that every laptop has. But, a good design is about "people" (for more context, see our #2 post about our journey to win the Good Design Award). We are building the product for YOU. We would love to learn more about your wish list. What do you wish your trackpad could do? 

Here is a quick 90s survey we prepared to take notes of what you want. Our engineers are so excited about this opportunity to communicate with you that they even asked to include a couple of questions about their current development as well! Our engineers will prioritize the popular requests from this survey and will optimize based on your feedback.

Nums™ is on its way to win another International Design Award: The Good Design Award (Japan)

The Good Design Award

Great news - Nums™ was selected from over 4,000 of entries to participate in the final round of screening of Japan's Good Design Award. If we pass this round, Nums™ will receive another prestigious International Design Award. How exciting!! 

It's our honor to be recognized by the committee of the Good Design Award. Japan's Good Design Award has 60 years of history. This award is extremely competitive and selective, because it evaluates more than the common design aspects, color, shape, technology, etc.; it evaluates the entire design process, from design concept, material selections, production process, how the industrial waste is processed, to if the design creates a new culture /method /thinking, etc. 

We have put our heart and soul into perfecting Nums™ from all aspects, beyond visible details, throughout the whole design and manufacturing process. It is our dream to create good designs, and we are living in our dream right now :)

What is a good design? 

From The Good Design Award committee: 
"Just what is central to design? After years of working with design, it appeared to us that the answer was “people.” While we may refer to them as “users” or by the lofty term “society,” people always are a central concern when a designer plans something new. The designer asks him or herself the questions “What do people need? What should I design for them?” We consider this to be the core that is of utmost importance to the contemporary definition of design. We consider design to consist of the series of processes of thinking constantly about people most of all, identifying objectives, and planning ways to achieve them. We believe that what is realized as a result of this process is one design solution."

Human perspective 

• Whether due considerations, including usability, understandability, and friendliness, etc., are given to users 
• Whether various considerations, including safety, security, environment, physically weak persons, etc., are given to maintain the credibility 
• Whether the design gains sympathy of users 
• Whether the design has attractiveness and induces users’ creativity

Industrial perspective

• Whether issues are skillfully solved by using new technology and materials or through creativity 
• Whether the item is reasonably designed or planned with appropriate technology, method, and quality 
• Whether the item contributes to the creation of new industry or business

Social perspective

• Whether the item contributes to the creation of new culture, such as a new method, lifestyle, communication, etc. 
• Whether the item contributes to the realization of the sustainable society 
• Whether the item suggests new value, such as a new method, concept, style, etc. to society

Time perspective 

• Whether the item puts past contexts and accumulated achievements to propose new value. 
• Whether the item proposes a highly sustainable solution from medium- and long-term perspectives. 
• Whether the item represents continual improvements in accordance with the times.

Yes, these requirements are very strict. However, we are confident that Nums™ meets all of them. We mean it when we say we are devoted to perfecting every single detail to bring YOU, our consumers, the best experience.
